To arrive to the vineyard in the MeGA Ravera, it is necessary to go through a big part of the Barolo area. Going up from Gallo, you can see the extraordinary different environments, a characteristic of this area. Novello rises to the south-west, like a bastion defense against the winds and bad weather of the high hills. Our Nebbiolo vineyard is located just below this ridge, facing south-east at an altitude of 400 meters. It is in here that we produce one of the “high altitude” Barolos, with tannins that are difficult to interpret, extract and mature. We are on the laminated fossil Marls of Sant’Agata, 8 million years old, which form a loamy soil with a significant amount of clay, helping to make it “heavy”. The freshness of the grapes is a certainly distinctive trait, it is due to the great amount of clay present in the soil which has a good supply of mineral nutrients, organic matter and a good water capacity.
